Now... I have issues with this character!!!! Where do I begin!!!! First of all...I can intellectually understand why an abused woman would want to disappear. So... I guess in order to do that, you have to lie on a regular basis to avoid being found. What was soo unreal to me... the writer, Harlen Coben, relocates Norah to another country to avoid being found by her husband.... that was not realistic for me. Maybe that actually happens, buttttt it was a stretch or me. Okay once she gets there she hooks up with the REAL Sheila and Ken. Okay it is plausible to switch identities. No problem there.BUTTT to return to the states and look up the brother, WILL, that was just too far fetched for me. That was Hokie!!!!!!!! So... how real is your love when you are interjecting yourself into someone else's life based on false pretenses??????? I guess my problem is more with the author than the actual character. That is why I said that Sheila a.k.a Norah should have stayed dead!!! I just did not like that part of the plot!!!!!
Now... if Norah REALLLYYY loved WIll, don't you think she could/should have come clean once she had to go underground!!!! What does that say about her character!!! I did not like this character in the plot!!!! I guess you see that!!!!

I can see your point, but it did give the story a twist that you wouldn't expect. I think Nora ran to another country because her ex-husband was a police officer and she wanted to escape for good without getting her family members hurt. Because of the abuse, she felt he could make good on all of the promises he made to hurt her and her family. I don't think she felt she had a choice but to run to another country to escape. I agree it was kind of "hokie" to meet Ken and Sheila, but like I said it gave the story a twist I did not expect. I did not predict the relationship between her, Sheila, Ken and Carly.
I think Will allowed her to keep her past a secret b/c of the wimp he was. He did not like confrontation and he liked living a shallow and simple life. He quickly learned he could not go on living in a fairy tale. But I digressed to Will again! Sorry. Any way, Nora wanted to meet Will b/c of the stories Ken told her about his brother. I guess he sounded like the complete opposite of her husband. I am sure Ken painted him as a saint, a loving, kind person and Nora wanted to meet a man of this caliber. I think Will fit her ideal mate and after hearing about him she wanted to meet him. I think she may have fell in love with him before she even met him.
I don't think she shared her identity with Will because Ken said if she did, he would be in danger. She did not want to put him in danger because of her. Same reason she ran away to Europe... not to put her family in danger. I think she was fragile and vulnerable because of the abuse and because of that, she did not make good decisions.
I thought that Sheila (Nora) brought and interesting twist to the story, however, it was not really believable- and for that I have to agree with Goins we must blame Coben.
Abuse - I see where a person who has been abused before would want to run away and not cause any harm to anyone else, but I honestly think there are better ways of dealing with that than going across the Atlantic to another country!
Will and Nora’s Relationship - I had a BIG problem with this. How do you think you know a person without knowing their past and what shaped them to be who they are? I think that people who try to run away from their past or hide their past are not being honest with themselves. If you can’t be honest with yourself how do you expect a relationship based on mystery to work? I found that very unbelievable. If you have skeletons in your closet you need to put them out there because sooner or later they’ll come out to haunt you (we learned this lesson from The Memory Keeper’s Daughter!)
Overseas Rendezvous- Okay, so Nora meets Ken and the real Sheila. What possesses a person to switch identities? That was just really weird!
Stalker!- I think Nora was a stalker! Lol who goes and finds a person because they are interested in their personality? Woah! That was creepy for me! Total stalker! And if she cared so much for Ken and his family, why would she go and find his brother if she was afraid of putting the people she cared about in danger?
I don’t know, this Nora character brought some neat twists but they were unbelievable!
